American Express is a global company with 170 years of history behind it, having reinvented itself a number of times, and with a business model based on value contribution, very distinct from other players in the payments field. As in other businesses, the financial and more in particular the payments' industries, are experiencing an unprecedented transformation that is disrupting the traditional paradigm. At the heart of this revolution are the consumers, who are increasingly taking control and positioning themselves above the brands.
American Express manages close to a million transactions within a closed circuit that allows the company obtain very valuable insights from clients. Specifically, Mr. Juan Orti will brief us on the following topics:
- American Express' business model.
- Outline of the evolution in the payments' industry.
- Impact of the digital revolution driven by consumer global trends according to the company's "big data" information sources.
The topics will be discussed over lunch and a debate with participants will follow.
